2004 Design Problem
Design a light fixture that could be used to light a person seated at a computer workstation with a videoconference camera mounted on top of the computer. The workstation may be in an office environment or at home. The light fixture needs to illuminate the person’s face and upper body. The light fixture may be desk, wall or ceiling mounted. Consider the issues of comfort, facial modeling, color rendering and glare when designing your fixture. Your fixture should use high efficiency lamps, such as fluorescent T5 or T2 linear lamps, compact fluorescent lamps, metal halide lamps, or LEDs. The ballast should be integral to the fixture. Self-ballasted lamps and other retrofit lamps are not acceptable. Identify all major interior and exterior components and materials. Describe how the light from your fixture supports the activities that take place at the computer workstation.
